01、歡迎來到資訊王
Dave: Welcome to InfoKing. I'm Dave. Looks like you've 1) inherited Bob's 2) cubicle.

【get to 影響,左右】
get to在對(duì)話中是指“影響,左右”,多半是指負(fù)面的情況:
A:The pressure has been really getting to me lately. 我最近真的被壓力壓得喘不過氣來。
B:Maybe you should take a vacation. 或許你該去度個(gè)假。
get to的另一個(gè)常見用法是“抵達(dá)”,這個(gè)短語在問路時(shí)很好用,相信大家也都不陌生:
A:How can I get to the train station? 我要怎么才能到火車站?
B:It's around the corner and to the left. 它就在轉(zhuǎn)角那邊靠左側(cè)。
get to還有一個(gè)常見用法,意思是“得以,才能夠”:
A:How did you get to be a politician? 你是如何才得以當(dāng)政治人物的?

【big time 超級(jí),非?!?/p>
big time是在口語中常??梢月牭降亩陶Z,用來強(qiáng)調(diào)句中程度的高,意即“超級(jí),非常”,可以當(dāng)做副詞用:
A:I need to go to the bathroom, big time!
我得要上廁所,超急的!
B:There's a toilet over there. Why don't you go?
那里就有廁所。你為什么不去?
也可以當(dāng)做形容詞,寫做big-time:
A:She is a big-time movie producer!
她是個(gè)大牌的電影制片!
B:Really? Why haven't I heard of her before then?
真的?那怎么我以前從沒聽說過她?
1) If you don't mind my asking. 若你不介意我問起的話。這是客氣的詢問句。要注意的是,mind 的后面要接動(dòng)名詞;而若提到是誰問的,則要用所有格。
2) launch (n., v.) 事業(yè)登場(chǎng),投入市場(chǎng)

03、此話怎講?
Zina: What do you mean? If he was a good programmer, he should have been 1) raking it in.

【W(wǎng)hat do you mean?這話怎講?】
這是談話時(shí)較隨便的講法,照說應(yīng)該是What do you mean by that? 另一個(gè)類似句型是What does the word mean?這個(gè)字作何解釋?mean 在這兩個(gè)句型的“意思、意表”解。
mean 也作“打算”解,須要注意的是后面只能接不定詞,不可接-ing式,例如:
Paul means to go to Taipei next week.
保羅打算下星期到臺(tái)北去。
A: What do you mean by sayingJudy is leaving the country.?
你說茱迪要出國是什么意思?
B: Well, she means to accept a job offer in Singapore.

很奇怪,怎么英文的look會(huì)翻譯成中文的“聽著”?其實(shí)這正說明文化的差異。在英、美社會(huì)里,要對(duì)方在意你即將說的話,最普遍的語詞是look,而我們?cè)谕瑯忧闆r下卻說“聽著”。
A:Look, I'll give you ten dollars if you sweep the room for me.
聽著,如果你幫我掃房間,我就給你十塊錢。
B:Sounds reasonable.
聽起來蠻合理的。

05、我要提供你認(rèn)股權(quán)
Vince: I want to 1) offer you more InfoKing stock options.
文斯: 我要提供你資訊王的認(rèn)股權(quán)。
Zina: When you hired me, you knew you were going to be low on cash, didn't you?

這里的work不是指“工作”,而是指“事物運(yùn)作的道理與規(guī)范”,類似于行規(guī)的概念:

【give away 送掉】
give away 這個(gè)短語看起來很簡(jiǎn)單,不過有許多常用的意思,對(duì)話中所用到的give away 是指“贈(zèng)送”。
A: Why did you give your bicycle away?
你為何把你的腳踏車送掉了?
B: It's too old. I want to get a new one anyway.
那臺(tái)太老了。反正我要換新的。

2) venture (n.) 具冒險(xiǎn)性的事業(yè)
3) capitalist (n.) 出資者,金主,capital 是“資金”。
4) profit (n.) 利潤(rùn)

06、我可不便宜
Zina: I'm not cheap.
