Others subvert deals, snatch passwords or disrupt e-commerce. Still others unleash viruses to crash computers. As a result, these hackers do a great damage to companies and computer users, causing computer losses up to 10 billion dollars per year.
Naturally, there are many causes for the cyber crimes. In addition to the wicked nature of the hackers, the fraihies of Internet partially nourish the crimes. However, we shouldn't tolerate these cyber criminals any more. And it's high time for us to take all the effective steps to battle the cyber crooks. First we should reinforce the cyber laws to protect the Web, the powerful engine of economy. Besides,we should use high techniques to improve intrusion detection, encrypfion and computer security. One night, when I was about to go to sleep, I suddenly heard an explosion of bomb. I watched out from the window and saw that heavy smog rise from a factory near my home. Then flames leap out. My father realized that it was an explosion and then caused a fire. He called 119 and 120 immediately. At the same time, my neighborhoods looked out from balconies and windows. They made phone calls, telling others what happened, or discussed with others. After a while, several fire engines and ambulances arrived. They immediately starting to put out the fire and rescue the trapped people. About half an hour later, the fire was put out, two people injured and no people died. It was lucky. However, it reminds us that we should focus on preventing fire carefully in daily life. A slightest mistake may cause serious consequences.
People are alarmed by the succession of campus fires in recent years. In each of these accidents, heavy casualties were reported – houses were burned down, students lost their lives, and properties were damaged. Faced with such a chilling fact, people keep asking, “What on earth results in these repeated tragedies?”
A brief survey of them reveals that human factors still prove to be the leading causes. For example, three of these fires were caused by the students’ use of electric water-heaters. As students often leave the heaters unattended, the risks are rather high should the water in the bottle boil dry while no one is around to turn off the power. In other cases, fires were also caused by stoves, candles, cigarette butts, etc.
Since most of these disasters could have been prevented if proper precautions had been taken, students should be better educated on the importance and measures of fire control. The following three reminders are of particular importance for us students: First, learn how to use a fire extinguisher. Second, double-check candles, heaters, stoves and other electric appliances, and make sure there are no open flames before leaving rooms. Lastly, do not smoke in the dorm.
