A brave 5-year-old Indiana boy who lost his fight with brain cancer this month received a hero'sfuneral. A superhero's funeral, that is.

The six pallbearers for Brayden Denton's funeral last week in Kentland dressed as Spider-Man,Thor, the Hulk, Superman, Iron Man and Batman.

"The whole time I saw them carrying Brayden. This is so cool,'" mom Staci Denton told the DailyNews on Monday. "That was his world. That's what he would have wanted."

Brayden had been battling an aggressive form of brain cancer known as DIPG since April of lastyear. He endured 30 rounds of radiation treatment, his mother said.

Throughout the ordeal, young Brayden maintained his love for superheroes — especiallySpider-Man.

For his third and fourth birthdays, he got a Spidey cake. For his 5th birthday three months ago,the family celebrated with a massive superhero cake.

And with the help of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Brayden got a chance to meet the web-slinger at Universal Studios during a trip to Florida last year.

Even though he was very weak, Brayden went to the new "Spider-Man" movie this spring. Whilehe was only able to see the beginning and the end, he gave a thumbs up for the movie.

"That was one of our battles that we wanted to make sure he got to see that movie," his momsaid.

It was Denton who thought of the "super" idea for the funeral after Brayden passed away May8.

"He could care less about people being in a suits, ties and dresses," said his mom, who wore aSpidey T-shirt to the service. "He was a 5-year-old boy. That's not what he thought was neat.He loved looking at superhero T-shirts."

The family is trying raise awareness for DIPG, which is terminal for 100 percent of thepatients. "This cancer does not have a survival rate. Even leukemia is survivable. This one isnot."

The Hero in My Heart

When people say the word "hero", what will you think? Do you have a hero in your heart? Maybe your hero is a famous singer, a movie star or a great-man. But my hero is around me, who gives me more love than others. She is my mother, the hero in my heart. My mother isn't great in the way of a famous singer or a movie star. She does nothing big, but what she does make others inferior. From her, I learn a lot.

When I was a baby, she taught me how to walk and how to speak. When I go to school, she helps me solve many problems. She also tells me be kind to others. When I do badly in study, she encourages me and tries to cheer me up. My mother is a teacher, and she is always busy with her work. When she corrects students' homework, she is always very serious. My mother is responsible to all of her students. She cares much about students study and life, and she tries her best to help students in need.

My mother is a loving mother, a qualified teacher, and a real hero in my heart.

You Are the Hero

You may plan to write a book some day, but you are living a book every day. The “Great Biographer” is writing the book of your life on the pages of time. Each day is a page, and each year is a chapter.

Imagine yourself walking through the pages of time. Are you a hero or a villain? See your life spread out before you as if in print, in the pages of a book. Would that book be a best-seller, or would it be a book you wish to suppress? Go to some quiet spot and think of the pages of your book. Are you proud of those pages? Can you improve the chapters that are to follow? Can you make the ending better than the beginning?

See the words you speak recorded in your book. See the deeds you do in your life. Moment by moment you are building the story of your life. You control your thoughts and actions as an author of a novel controls the thoughts and actions of his characters. No matter what happens to you in the pages of time, you have the power to react like a hero!

Alexander Dumas wrote: “All the world cries, ‘Where is the man who will save us?’ Don’t look so far for this man; you have him at hand. This man is you, me, and each one of us.”
