英語寓言故事：獅子和老鼠

　　摘要：我想，我不能抱怨，狐貍在回森林的路上難過地自言自語道，畢竟，是自己教她這個把戲的。

　　A Fox invited a long-beaked Stork to have dinner with him.

　　狐貍邀請長嘴鶴同他一起吃飯。

　　“I hope you don’t mind sharing the same dish with me,” said the Fox. “It is our custom in thewoods to eat together to show that we are friendly.”

　　“希望你不要介意和我和吃一道菜，” 狐貍說，“一同吃飯說明交情好，這是我們森林里的習(xí)慣。”

　　“Not at all,” said the Stork politely.

　　“沒關(guān)系。鶴客氣地說。

　　The Fox brought a wide, shallow bowl of thin soup and set it between them.

　　狐貍用大淺碗端上了一碗稀湯，放在兩人中間。

　　‘please help yourself,” he said, setting down to lap the soup with his long pink tongue.

　　“請吃吧。“狐貍說著坐下來，伸出粉紅色的長舌頭舔那碗湯。

　　The Stork stood with her long legs apart and put the tip of her long, thin beak into the soup;but although she tried to scoop up the thin liquid it was quite impossible for her to do so.

　　鶴叉開長腿站著，把細(xì)長的嘴伸進(jìn)了湯里。雖然她竭力想喝湯，但是，這對于她來說太難了。她好不容易吸了幾滴在嘴里，可還沒流到喉嚨就流掉了。

　　Even when she did manage to hold a few drops in her beak they were lost long before theycould trickle down to her throat. Too polite to complain, the Stork went home hungry whilethe greedy Fox lapped up all the soup. As she left she heard him laughing to himself at his owncleverness.

　　鶴很有涵養(yǎng)，并沒有抱怨，餓著肚子回家了，而貪吃的狐貍把湯舔得一干二凈。鶴離開的時候，聽到狐貍自鳴得意的笑聲。

　　A few days later the Stork invited the Fox to have dinner with her in return and the Fox madehis way to her home.

　　過了幾天，鶴回請狐貍一同進(jìn)餐，狐貍前往她家。

　　“it is our custom to share a dish, too,” said the Stork, “ I hope you will join me.”

　　和吃一道菜也是我們的風(fēng)俗，鶴說道，希望你和我一起吃。

　　“Certainly, certainly,” said the Fox, licking his lips. He had not eaten all day.

　　當(dāng)然，當(dāng)然，狐貍說著舔了舔嘴唇。他已經(jīng)一整天沒吃東西了。

　　The Stork brought her food. This time, however, it was served in a tall, thin jug with a narrowopening at the top.

　　鶴端上了食物。然而這次食物盛在又細(xì)又高的罐子里，灌口很窄。

　　“Please begin,” said the Stork, thrusting her beak into the jug.

　　請吃吧。鶴說道，把嘴伸進(jìn)了罐子里。

　　“Mmmm. It is good.”

　　“味道好極了。”

　　Of course the Fox could not get his nose into the jug at all. All he could do was sniff hungrily atthe delicious smell and lick the occasional drop that spilled over the side.

　　狐貍當(dāng)然無法把鼻子伸進(jìn)罐子里去。他只能餓著肚子聞聞?wù)T人的味道，舔舔偶爾溢出來的幾滴。

　　“I suppose I can’t complain,” he said to himself sadly as he made his way back to the woods. “After all, I taught her the trick myself.”

　　獅子和老鼠

　　Once when a Lion was asleep a little Mouse began running up and down upon him; this soonwakened the Lion, who placed his huge paw upon him, and opened his big jaws to swallowhim.

　　從前，當(dāng)一頭獅子正在睡覺時，一只小老鼠在它身上跳來跳去D獅子很快就被吵醒了，它用巨大的爪子按住老鼠，然后張開大嘴要把它吃掉o

　　‘Pardon, O King,’ cried the little Mouse: ‘forgive me this time, I shall never forget it: who knowsbut what I may be able to do you a turn some of these days?’

　　¨饒了我吧，¨小老鼠哀求道，¨原諒我這一次，我將永遠(yuǎn)不會忘記你的大恩大德，說不定哪天我能報答你呢?”

　　The Lion was so tickled at the idea of the Mouse being able to help him, that he lifted up his pawand let him go.

　　獅子聽到小老鼠能幫到它，覺得十分好笑，就抬起爪子把小老鼠放走了o

　　Some time after the Lion was caught in a trap, and the hunters who desired to carry him aliveto the King, tied him to a tree while they went in search of a waggon to carry him on.

　　沒過多久，獅子落人了獵人陷阱o獵人們想活捉它，然后獻(xiàn)給國王他們把它綁在一棵樹上，然后去尋找貨車來運(yùn)送正在那時

　　Just then the little Mouse happened to pass by, and seeing the sad plight in which the Lion was,went up to him and soon gnawed away the ropes that bound the King of the Beasts‘Was I notright?’ said the little Mouse.

　　小老鼠碰巧經(jīng)過，看到獅子被綁，就跑上前去很快咬斷了捆綁在野獸之王身上的繩子o¨

　　Little friends may prove great friends.

　　我說的沒錯吧?¨小老鼠說。
