An Alabama elementary school student wasaccidentally shot in the hand last Monday afterbringing a gun to school.

Huntsville Police Chief Mark McMurray told newsoutlets a "small student" brought the gun to schoolat Blossomwood Elementary School in Huntsville.
亨茨維爾警察局局長(zhǎng)馬克·麥克默里向媒體透露，一名低年級(jí)小學(xué)生將槍支帶到了亨茨維爾的布勞伍迪小學(xué)。
Police said the student had been showing the gun toother students when it went off, shooting him in the hand. McMurray said the child was not "seriously harmed."

McMurray said it appears to be an accidental shooting. He said there was "no intent to harmanyone."

He urged parents to keep their guns secured at home.

"If you have a weapon in your house, there is nothing wrong with that, but you do need tosafeguard it. You need to lock these weapons down."

The school system did not release the children's age or grade. The school serves students up tofifth grade.

Ma Dongmin, co-founder and vice-president ofChinese internet giant Baidu, has donated 100 million yuan (.5 million) to the University ofScience and Technology of China.
