There is an old Spanish Proverb which states, "Tomorrow isoften the busiest day of the week". How many times have weput off our dreams until tomorrow? I’d say, way too many. Ourdreams should not, and cannot wait. We have to go for themnow! Here’s why.
1. Tomorrow is not promised
Nobody likes to talk about death, but the reality is – everybody is going to die at one point. Noneof us know the day, or the hour. Therefore, today is all we have. Don’t go to your grave withunfulfilled dreams. Make the decision to go after every dream, big or small right now.
2. The world is waiting on your gift
I know this may be hard to believe, but the world is waiting on YOU! Yes, YOU! You were born intothe world with a unique gift, which nobody on this earth can duplicate. Sure, other people may beable to sing. But they’ll never be able to sing exactly like you. Sure other people can write, butthey’ll never be able to write from the same perspective in which you write. Don’t deprive theworld of your gift. It’s the oxygen that we need to survive. Thus, it is your responsibility to figureout exactly what your gift is, and use to better your life and the lives of those around you.
3. Unless you take the first step, your dreams will never come true
You can dream about writing the great American play all you want, but it’s never going to happenunless you actually put pen to paper. You can dream about finding a cure for cancer, but it willnever happen unless you actually go to school to become equipped with the necessary tools tofind that cure. In other words, dreams don’t work unless you do. They require you to get yourhead out of the clouds, and actually do the work to make them happen. Get to it!
4.You can’t let fear win
One of the biggest dream killers is fear. There are so many people who could have achievedamazing things if only they weren’t afraid. Just think about all the things you’ve wanted to do, butallowed fear to convince you that you weren’t capable, or good enough. In the movie After Earth,Will Smith’s character says, "Fear is not real. It is a product of thoughts you create. Do notmisunderstand me. Danger is very real. But fear is a choice." Choose not to let fear stop you fromachieving your dreams.
5. Possibilities you never knew existed are waiting on you
There are so many amazing opportunities and people waiting on you. Films festivals, panels, boards, the top people in your field, all these things are waiting on you! How do you get to them?Simple. Follow your dream. Doors that you couldn’t imagine open up when you go after what youwant. You’ll never see those doors if you sit around waiting on a dream to happen, instead ofactually working to make it happen.
6. You’ll be much happier if you go for it
Imagine how much happier you’ll be if you’re living the life you always dreamed about. The onlything that is stopping you, is you. Take control of your own happiness. Don’t keep your dreamswaiting. Go after them today!
