A Letter to the University President about the Library Service on the Campus
Dear Mr. President,
I am writing to express my concern over the library service on the campus.
As a major in English, I find that most of the books in English in the library are outdated. So far, I have not come across a single book published after 1995. As a result, we fail to get the latest information of academic development both at home and abroad.
In addition, the light in the reading room is far from bright, which does harm to our eyes. Worse still, there is no air?conditioning and we are sweating heavily while reading.
Last but not least, the newly?developed electronic information system does not work well and needs further improvement. A great number of books should have been listed in the system.
There is no denying that the library has helped us a lot. But it is in urgent need of improvement. When improved, the library is certain to provide much more help with our study.

信心的重要性 The Importance of Confidence
Whatever one does, one should do it with confidence. If one has no confidence, there is little possibility that one would ever achieve anything, especially when one is faced with drawbacks or hardships. This troth seems to be self-evident. However, in reality we do see a lot of people who complain that they lack the ability to do ,something or that their difficulties are too great to be overcome,For someone, this might be true. But for many others, this only shows that they have lost heart.
Why do people often feel frustrated even though they are capable of doing some thing? There are, among others, two main reasons. First, these people do not have a correct estimate of themselves. Second, they overestimate the difficulties.
It is passible to build up faith in oneself by having the right attitude towards one's own abilities. We should never underesrimate our abilities but should believe in the proverb: "Where there is a will, there is a way." Confidence is the promise for fulfilling a task successfully.

Do You Prefer High Salary or A Promising Job?
When it comes to the choice of career, some people prefer the job with high salary. Why?
Their reasons run as following: to begin with, high salary can bring them happy life; in addition, with high salary, they can do whatever they want.
But some others prefer to choose a job with promising future. They base their choice on the following reasons: on one hand, a promising job itself means a raise and promotion in the future; on another hand, job with a bright future will bring them honor and sense of pride.
As for me, if I'm left to make the choice, I'll not hesitate to choose a promising job. First of all, I appreciate the honor and challenge it brings to me. At the same time, if I work hard, it will offer me a lot of opportunities including high salary, good position, etc.
