In this picture a man rudely opens a garbage can and violently throws all kinds of waste into it. However, the box is not an ordinary trash can, but is, as a matter of fact, the Earth. It is where survive, breed, and prosper. But as the drawing indicates, Earth does not receive an equal repayment. Quite the contrary, one of the biggest "gifts" humans return to Earth is an unbelievable amount of trash.
The picture purposefully points out a kind of pollution that arouses little public attention, that is, garbage. The past century has witnessed an unprecedented increase in garbage output, most of it technological products that are difficult to be decomposed through natural processes, such as plastics and glass. Furthermore, a recent report released that several major Chinese cities are already surrounded by circles of trash in the suburban areas, polluting air, water, and earth.
Hence, the issue of waste pollution needs to be addressed as one of
the priorities that demand social efforts. Only through a holistic system of trash disposal can this problem be fully solved. Moreover, we should advocate a more frugal lifestyle so as to reduce the growing scale of waste pollution.

It is reported that ten big cities in China are being ranked among the top twenty cities with the highest pollution index in the world. This means it is high time we did something to bring the situation under control.
據(jù)報(bào)道，全球污染指數(shù)最高的二十個(gè)城市中包含十個(gè)中國(guó)的城市。這意味著是時(shí)候我們應(yīng)該采取行動(dòng)來(lái)控制局勢(shì)了。
Many factors are contributing to the deteriorating situation: industrial wastes pumped into the air, the lakes and rivers; a increasing number of automobiles crowding into the streets; the widespread use of plastic bags etc. 許多因素導(dǎo)致這種局勢(shì)的惡化：工業(yè)廢氣排放到空氣、湖泊和河流中，越來(lái)越多的汽車擠滿了街道，塑料袋的廣泛使用等等。
To my view, stiffer laws and regulations must be implemented to check pollution. Industries that release wastes without permission should be heavily fined. Cars should be equipped to minimize the exhaust they release into the air. And the use of plastic bags and disposable meal boxes should be banned. What’s more, the media should play an important role in implanting a sense of environmental consciousness into people’s mind.
就我看來(lái)，必須出臺(tái)嚴(yán)格的法律和法規(guī)來(lái)治理污染。未經(jīng)批準(zhǔn)個(gè)工業(yè)廢物排放應(yīng)該嚴(yán)厲懲罰。汽車應(yīng)該配備最小化的廢氣排放裝置。塑料袋和一次性餐盒的使用應(yīng)該被禁止。還有，媒體應(yīng)該發(fā)揮其重要的作用將保護(hù)環(huán)境的意識(shí)植入到人們的頭腦中。
If everybody works toward a common goal of making the environment better, we can create a cleaner and lovelier world for us and for the coming generation.
如果每個(gè)人都能向保護(hù)環(huán)境的方向努力，我們就能為后代創(chuàng)造一個(gè)更清潔、更可愛的世界。
