作為邁阿密的新生代R&B小天王，Sammie在他出生前便顯現(xiàn)出了其高超的音樂天賦。她的媽媽曾經(jīng)是一名專業(yè)的歌者，在懷著他的時候曾經(jīng)在教堂里面唱歌。更為碰巧的是，Sammie的第一次成功的演唱也是在教堂里。在他四歲的時候，曾因為演唱Troubles Don‘t Last Always而受到了正式的贊揚(yáng)。即使是在上學(xué)的時候，Sammie的腦海中也不曾與音樂遠(yuǎn)離。他經(jīng)常在上課的時候被老師抓到自己在課堂上輕聲哼唱，但是老師還是非?？隙ㄋ囊魳凡湃A。最終，一個在他們學(xué)校附近的一所藝術(shù)學(xué)校中的一名老師在聽說了他的音樂天賦之后把他轉(zhuǎn)入到他們學(xué)校的三年級學(xué)習(xí)。不久以后，他和另外兩個初中的男生成立了一個合唱團(tuán)體，Sammie的音樂老師對于他們的表演頗有好感，就將他們其中一個視頻推薦給了Apollo的電視節(jié)目Showtime欄目組， 他們因此獲得了一個試唱的機(jī)會，還有1998年Sammie的個人秀也歸功于此! 最終Sammie贏得了比賽桂冠，因而Joyce Irby，一名曾與Monica和ABC合作過的并且與亞特蘭大本部制作人兼作曲人Dallas Ausin相識的經(jīng)紀(jì)人，聯(lián)系到了他跟他母親!Austin將Sammie帶到他的錄音室錄制樣帶，大約1年以后，Sammie被召回開始錄制首張個人專輯——是在2000年初由Capitol Records唱片公司發(fā)行的From the bottom to the top.這應(yīng)該說是一張充滿了驚喜，不乏精彩的專輯。2001年，Sammie客串電影原聲曲Hardball.2006年，Sammie發(fā)行其第二張個人專輯，從Come With Me開始，歌曲開始轉(zhuǎn)入抒情的R&B節(jié)奏，Sammie早年唱詩班的功力得以體現(xiàn)。2008年，與Soulja Boy共同演繹Kiss me thru the phone.
