丹尼爾·理查德·波特(Daniel Richard Powter，1971年2月25日-)，亦作丹尼爾·帕德，加拿大唱作音樂人。2005年以出道首發(fā)單曲《Bad Day》紅遍歐洲隨后又席卷北美而為全世界樂迷熟知。丹尼爾細(xì)膩獨(dú)特的感受力及出色的琴藝，讓他總是能夠在平淡無奇的生活中，找到音樂創(chuàng)作的題材，因此有著“城市琴人丹尼爾”的稱號(hào)。

1971年2月25日，丹尼爾·波特出生于加拿大不列顛哥倫比亞省弗農(nóng)市的歐墾娜根(Okanagan-Shuswap)山谷地區(qū)。父親是醫(yī)生，母親是鋼琴家。
在僅四歲的時(shí)候，丹尼爾就開始在母親的鋼琴伴奏下學(xué)習(xí)練習(xí)小提琴。天資聰慧，進(jìn)步神速的丹尼爾不久之后就可以在學(xué)校舉辦的活動(dòng)中演出，甚至10歲時(shí)就開始嘗試作曲。 但這同時(shí)也招來了同學(xué)的嫉妒和圍攻。因?yàn)榛加袊?yán)重的誦讀困難癥，難以閱讀樂譜的丹尼爾還遭到了小提琴老師的侮辱，在這之后，丹尼爾再也沒有碰過小提琴。 在母親的影響下丹尼爾開始試著學(xué)習(xí)鋼琴，而他也一下就為這種“能夠同時(shí)奏出多種音色”的樂器所著迷。 無法閱讀琴譜的他靠聽力學(xué)會(huì)了彈奏鋼琴。
熟練了鋼琴技藝的丹尼爾隨后又開始把興趣轉(zhuǎn)向歌唱，高三時(shí)他演唱的自己創(chuàng)作并錄制剪輯的單曲在由加拿大不列顛哥倫比亞省某廣播電臺(tái)舉辦的“Rocktoria”音樂競賽中取得佳績。 1989年從弗農(nóng)第二中學(xué)(Vernon Secondary School)高中畢業(yè)后丹尼爾獲得了帶獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金在埃德蒙頓的格蘭特·麥克伊文學(xué)院(Grant MacEwan College)學(xué)習(xí)音樂機(jī)會(huì)。 但誦讀困難再一次阻礙了他前進(jìn)的腳步——音樂考試成績?nèi)珒?yōu)的丹尼爾卻因?yàn)槔碚摽荚嚥患案穸媾R畢業(yè)困難。大學(xué)兩年后丹尼爾決定輟學(xué)并開始自己的音樂生涯。
