英語名詞所有格用法

　　主格和賓格(nominative and objective case) 名詞的主格和賓格都沒有形式變化，要通過名詞在句子中的位置和作用來確定。

　　作主語時用主格，作賓語時用賓格。

　　Many foreigners(主格)like to read China Daily(賓格)。很多外國人愛讀《中 國日報》。

　　The manager(主格)is showing the foreigners(賓格)around the new factory(賓格)。經(jīng)理正帶領(lǐng)外國人參觀新廠。

　　名詞所有格(possessive case)名詞所有格一般表示所有關(guān)系。有‘s 所有格和 of 所有格兩種。

　　(1)'s 所有格

　　表示有生命的東西的名詞所有格在名詞末尾加上-’s：the teacher's house 教師的家 the People's Republic 人民共和國 the Women's Society 婦女社團(tuán) children's toys 兒童玩具 Charlie Chaplin's films 查理•卓別林的電影。

　　詞尾是-s 或-es 的復(fù)數(shù)名詞末尾只加“’”： the boys' house 男孩們的房子 the soldiers' horses 士兵們的馬 the students' textbooks 學(xué)生們的課本 All Fools' Day愚人節(jié)

　　注意：在某些以-s 結(jié)尾的專有名詞后，也只加 “’”。 James’ eyes 詹姆斯的眼晴 Engels' praise 恩格斯的贊揚

　　如果某物為兩人共有，則只在后一個名詞的詞尾加's;如果表示各自的所有關(guān) 系時，則各個名詞詞尾都加's：my father and mother's friends 我爸媽的朋友 his father-in-law's new car 他岳父的新車

　　不以-s 結(jié)尾的復(fù)數(shù)名詞加's:women's dress 婦女的衣服 men's work 男人的工作 the children's room 孩子的房間

　　表示時間、距離、重量、地方等無生命的東西的名詞，也可以用's 構(gòu)成所有關(guān)系：a few days' time 幾天的時間 a week's holidays 一周的假期 today's newspaper 今天的報紙 ten minutes’ ride 乘車十分鐘的路 程 one pound's weight l 磅的重量

　　(2)of 所有格

　　of 所有格是以”of+名詞”構(gòu)成的一種詞組形式，主要用于表示無生命東 西的名詞，表示所有關(guān)系：the windows of the classroom 教室的窗子 the colours of the flowers 鮮 花的顏色 the foot of the mountain 山腳 the noise of the tractors 拖拉 機(jī)的噪音

　　表示有生命東西的名詞，也可用 of 所有格表示所有關(guān)系，或者表示主謂關(guān)系、 動賓關(guān)系或事物的來源等： the death of Stalin 斯大林的逝世 the arrival of the chairman主席的到來 the laws of Newton 牛頓定律

　　名詞所有格與它修飾的詞的邏輯關(guān)系

　　廣義上來說所有格用來表示“擁有”或 “所有”， the teachers’tapes(教師的磁帶)。但嚴(yán)格說來所有格形式并不單純地表 “擁有”，而用來表達(dá)某個人 或物被另一個名詞所修飾的關(guān)系。 名詞所有格在邏輯上可能是它所修飾的名詞的主語;也可能是其賓語：the doctor's arrival 醫(yī)生的到來 the love of the mother 母親的愛 the King's praise 國王的贊賞 the liberation of the city 城市的解放 the punishment of the teacher 教師的懲罰(可能含有：教師懲罰人或教師受 到懲罰，這兩種意思)

　　雙重所有格(the double possessive) 's 所有格有時可以和 of 所有格結(jié)合在一起表示所有關(guān)系，這叫做”雙重所有 格”。

　　(1)雙重所有格的形式

　　of 十名詞所有格

　　He is a friend of my brother's.他是我弟弟的一位朋友。

　　That is a new design of Mr.Brown's.那是布朗先生的一項新設(shè)計。

　　Miss Smith is a friend of Mary’s mother’s. 施密絲小姐是瑪麗媽媽的朋友。

　　of+名詞性物主代詞

　　I'm staying with a friend of mine.我打算和我的一位朋友住在一起。

　　I borrowed a necklace of yours.我借了你的一條項鏈。

　　(2)雙重所有格的幾個特征

　　雙重所有格所修飾的名詞 (即 of 之前的名詞)通常和不定冠詞 a 及 any, some,no,few,several 等表示數(shù)量的詞連用，表示”其中之一”或”其中一 部分”的意思，但不可以和定冠詞 the 連用。

　　This is a book of my father's. 這是我爸爸的一本書。

　　Have you read any books of Einstein's?你讀過愛因斯坦的什么書嗎?

　　Some friends of my brother’s have arrived. 我兄弟的幾位朋友已經(jīng)到了。

　　不能說:the play of Shakespeare's 或 the novels of Lu Xun's

　　of 十名詞所有格”中的名詞一般表示人，不能表示物;該名詞必須是特 指的，不能是泛指的，不能與不定冠詞連用。

　　a friend of the doctor’s 這個大夫的一個朋友

　　some books of my brother's 我哥哥的一些書

　　a friend of my parents'我父母的一個朋友

　　a play of Shaw's 肖伯納的一個劇本 不能說: a cover of the book's

　　雙重所有格修飾的名詞和指示代詞 this, that, these, those 連用時，往往表示愛憎、褒貶等感情色彩，這時并不表示“部 分”的意思。

　　That little daughter of your sister's is really a dear. 你姐姐的那個小女兒真惹人愛。

　　These remarks of yours are of great value to us. 你的這些話對我們來說 很有幫助。

　　How old is this lovely child of your aunt's? 這個你姑母的可愛的小孩幾 歲了?

　　名詞所有格所修飾詞的省略

　　(1)名詞所有格所修飾的詞如果前面已提到，則往往省略，以免重復(fù)

　　The kite is not mine ,but John's(kite) . 風(fēng)箏不是我的而是約翰的。

　　She put her arm through her husband's (arm).她挽著她丈夫的手臂。

　　(2)習(xí)慣上，名詞所有格后面指地點等的名詞也可省去不用

　　Yesterday I met him again at the barber's (shop). 昨天我又在理發(fā)店遇上 他了。

　　You are expected in the manager's (office).盼著你到經(jīng)理辦公室去。

　　We had supper at my uncle's (house).我們在叔叔家吃的晚飯。

　　of 所有格與雙重所有格的區(qū)別

　　(1)有時 of 所有格與雙重所有格在單句中意義較接近，知識側(cè)重點有所不同。

　　He is a friend of my father’s. =He is one of my father’s friends. (著 重說明父親不止他一個朋友)

　　He is a friend of my father. =It is he who is my father’s friend. (著 重說明他是我父親唯一的一個朋友)

　　(2)中心詞是 portrait, picture, printing, photograph 等詞時，后面用 of 所有格指某人自己的肖像、照片等;用雙重所有格則表示某人所收藏的肖像、照 片。

　　This is a picture of my father. 照片上的人是我父親。

　　This is a picture of my father’s. 這照片屬于我父親收藏。
