Hello, my dear friends! How are you doing today? Today, I drafted a short conversation about jet lag. Let's start!
A: Hi Linda, are you ok? You look so exhausted.
B: Really? I just returned from Los Angeles, so I am in the jet lag. I could not fall asleep last night.
A:Jet lag! I had very serious jet lag when I got back from New York last month.
B: I can barely keep my eyes open, so I drank some coffee. Still very sleepy!
A: Travel between different time zones changes your body’s internal clock. So your internal clock has adjusted to the U.S. time.
B: Exactly, I felt energetic last night, because it was daytime in the U.S.
A: That is why someone told me to take sleeping pills and try to sleep for the whole flight. I may try that way next time.
B: I heard someone told me to stay awake for the whole flight. Different story!
A: I guess each person has different solutions that work best for them. My previous experience was trying to get on the local schedule after landing.
B: So, it means that If I get there and it is dinner time, I should get something to eat and adapt as soon as possible?
A: Absolutely, try your best to adapt as quickly as possible. If you are very tired in the afternoon, take a short nap, but don’t sleep for hours.
B: It makes sense.
A: If you cannot fall asleep for several days, you may visit doctors to get some professional advises.
B: Got it! Thanks.
