No one can achieve greatness on her own—this is what I have come to realize during my unpredictable route from undergraduate to professional artist. I am a long way from my preconceived path and, not long ago, I saw this deviation as a failure. Now I understand the variances in my course as a discovery of where my true brilliance resides, and it has been the people along the way who have helped me shape this journey. As a graduate graphic design student at [the school], my expectation is to encounter more individuals who will contribute to my potential.
My original direction was towards illustration and I built a great foundation from my undergraduate education, thanks to illustrators __ and ___ and letterpress guru __. My attraction to pieces from the Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau movements and native cultures began to translate into my art. In Italy, I had the extraordinary opportunity to see the work of illustrators from around the world at the Bologna Children's Book Fair. Six months after receiving my BFA, I took an intensive weeklong trip to New York City, full of informational meetings, portfolio drop-offs, and even an interview with __. By the end of my visit, I was confident that I would soon be living in New York as an illustrator.
I returned to ___ only to find my family broken by miscommunication and mistrust. It was difficult to concentrate on my own pursuits and by January, I just wanted to find work outside the house so I could regain focus. The part-time jobs I would soon acquire proved to be invaluable experiences. As a sales person at ___, I rekindled my fondness for handmade art and was even encouraged by the manager, ___, to teach classes. My job at ___ became my first stride into professional design. Presentations director ___, supportive of my background in illustration, ensured that I received projects that utilized my talents and improved my skills.
At the end of 2007, I moved more towards graphic design as I accepted a position at ___. In such a rigorous studio environment, I have been pushed to the next level as a visual communicator. I have been trusted to conceptualize and execute the advertisements, promotions, and website for the citywide ___ event two years in a row. In addition, I have worked on smaller projects like the corporate identity for ___, which required comprehensive research of the client's native culture and business in order to deduce a successful representation of the company. All the while, the design director, __, and my co-workers have helped me become proficient in all aspects of advertising and marketing design.
All these personal interactions and experiences—the delightful and the painful—have brought me to the next step: advanced studies in graphic design. My initial hope is to expand on explorations of art, design, and crafts, ultimately developing a style that is more in tune with my worldviews. I know that at [the school] I will receive an education tailored to my interest—I can mesh design with printmaking and other art forms. With the faculty headed by [director 1] and [director 2], I expect to be enlightened by avant-garde graphic design and innovative typography. In particular, I look forward to learning from [professor]: I associate with her sense of design and want to hear more about her involvement in design education.
Additionally, [the school] attracts some of the most talented and fervent artists in the world, as students and as visiting faculty, and I am excited to meet them and make connections within the design field. Coupled with the surrounding communities of [the city], the individuals will create a diverse atmosphere where I can learn to mold my designs to reach broader audiences.
Most important to me is paying it forward: I believe it is pivotal to take all that I have gained and use them to help the next generation of designers. I could not ask for a better opportunity to do so than through the [community program] at [the school]. I am thrilled by the prospect of helping younger students uncover future goals while working towards my own.
At [the school], I look forward to being challenged: to be pressed to explore new avenues as an artist, to create work that is relevant to the advancement of the design field, and practice educating a young, diverse group of up-and-coming artists. To me, all begins with people.

丹麥留學(xué)居留申請(qǐng)指南
一、居留申請(qǐng)
1.材料
需要準(zhǔn)備好身份證明,出示自己本學(xué)校錄取的通知復(fù)印件;以及辦理了學(xué)校專業(yè)學(xué)習(xí)入學(xué)的學(xué)生證,還有自己合格的護(hù)照,以及確認(rèn)好了的住宿的地址信息證明。
然后是資金證明,這部分和申請(qǐng)簽證的時(shí)候出示的保證金銀行證明是重合的,大家只需要準(zhǔn)備好材料的復(fù)印件,進(jìn)行提交就可以了,金額的要求也是一致的,不需要額外準(zhǔn)備。
2.流程
直接拿著材料去負(fù)責(zé)的警局即可,不需要提前進(jìn)行預(yù)約,因?yàn)閷徍撕娃k理的流程是非常簡(jiǎn)單的,去到現(xiàn)場(chǎng)之后,想要領(lǐng)號(hào)排隊(duì),在等待期間需要填寫好自己的申請(qǐng)表,確認(rèn)資格。
輪到自己之后,再去柜臺(tái)提交自己的表格和材料,并且確認(rèn)身份,需要回答基礎(chǔ)問題,繳納申請(qǐng)的手續(xù)費(fèi),然后就可以回家等待結(jié)果了,會(huì)直接將居留卡寄到預(yù)留的地址。
二、居留續(xù)期
1.材料
由于是續(xù)期,大家已經(jīng)有了居留的合法 身份,只是在原有的基礎(chǔ)上進(jìn)行時(shí)間的延長(zhǎng),需要證明的是大家還有合法的停留身份,即學(xué)業(yè)還未完成,續(xù)期一般是一年一年進(jìn)行的,和簽證一樣。
所以大家要出示的材料,主要就是原本的居留卡,本人的合法護(hù)照,學(xué)校開具的學(xué)生在讀的證明,有這幾樣就足夠了,大家可以順利的完成自己的續(xù)期申請(qǐng)。
2.流程
續(xù)期辦理也不需要提前預(yù)約,代征才來(lái)哦啊直接去警局就可以了,而且窗口還是和正式居留申請(qǐng)分開的,這樣速度會(huì)更快,畢竟審核要花的時(shí)間更短,而且馬上就可以拿到結(jié)果。
當(dāng)然申請(qǐng)表還是要填的,再將自己的材料進(jìn)行提交接受審核,一般十分鐘就能夠完成整個(gè)流程,大家從警局出來(lái)的時(shí)候,就是一個(gè)可以再停留一年的正式留學(xué)生。
丹麥留學(xué)行李準(zhǔn)備清單
一、衣物類
丹麥?zhǔn)且粋€(gè)海島國(guó)家,雖然緯度高但是由于是海洋性的氣候,全面的溫差不會(huì)特別大,冬天雖然冷,但是夏天的氣溫不高,所以大家?guī)б路?,要以保暖為主,不過(guò)也不需要帶上太多。
一般按照抵達(dá)后初期的溫度準(zhǔn)備,準(zhǔn)備兩三套長(zhǎng)袖長(zhǎng)褲外套即可,鞋子以運(yùn)動(dòng)鞋為主,貼身要穿的內(nèi)衣褲和襪子,可以多準(zhǔn)備一點(diǎn),國(guó)內(nèi)的價(jià)格會(huì)相對(duì)便宜一些,而且也會(huì)舒適得多。
二、藥品類
首先需要應(yīng)對(duì)可能會(huì)出現(xiàn)的水土不服,主要的表現(xiàn)就是感冒發(fā)燒和拉肚子,所以感冒藥和腸胃藥,一定要帶上,不過(guò)在選擇的時(shí)候,還需要考察成分,避開禁入的藥品。
眼藥水同樣也屬于藥品的行列,學(xué)習(xí)的壓力還是比較大的,保護(hù)好眼睛很重要;在丹麥的夏天,也是有蚊子出沒的,大家可以帶上驅(qū)蚊水或者蚊帳,解決蚊蟲叮咬。
三、食品類
適應(yīng)西餐需要一段時(shí)間,熬過(guò)過(guò)渡期需要大家自己做飯,或者先用國(guó)內(nèi)的零食過(guò)渡,這樣大家可以帶上一個(gè)多功能的電飯煲,可以完成很多國(guó)內(nèi)的菜色,還不需要廚房。
調(diào)料的準(zhǔn)備是最重要的內(nèi)容,國(guó)內(nèi)大部分的調(diào)味品,只要分量不超過(guò)限度,就可以隨便帶,當(dāng)然要是會(huì)用到的才需要帶,不要帶太多。
四、日用類
床單被套等,至少要從國(guó)內(nèi)帶上一套,這樣大家到了丹麥之后,安排住宿的時(shí)候,才可以直接使用,不用浪費(fèi)時(shí)間再準(zhǔn)備,三件套不占地方,大家也可以帶上備用的,這樣更換起來(lái)也會(huì)方便一些,
洗漱類的東西,帶正裝會(huì)比較重,而且在中途行李箱會(huì)幾經(jīng)輾轉(zhuǎn),有可能會(huì)漏出來(lái),所以大家可以準(zhǔn)備上旅行裝,既能夠滿足大家抵達(dá)初期的生活需求,又不會(huì)很占空間,包裝起來(lái)也方便。
