I got my very first glimpse into law by watching my father, my hero, a Ph.D. of law and now the Chinese ambassador to Barbados. I have been inspired by his work as an international lawyer and a career diplomat while growing up. For many years, I have been preparing myself through academic and extra-curriculum activities, hoping that I can make a difference for the world. I believe pursuing the Master’s degree in Law at Cornell University will assist me in striving towards the goal.
With my dedication and my parent’s unconditional support, I successfully entered the …… University, one of the top law schools in China for legal education. I have explored a wide range of different law theories in the Civil Law field and had an opportunity to work on logical writing. It has been these years of study at …… University that has enlightened me and laid a solid foundation for my legal career.
In addition, I have also participated in various extra-curricular activities. As class monitor, the head of the Information Department in Student Committee, and the head of Research Department in our college, I am entrusted with many responsibilities. Amid my strenuous study, I had an opportunity to participate in the American Legal System Study Program summer of my sophomore year and I was exposed to the great American culture. I engaged in an internship program at Michigan District Court, where I followed Judge ……. It was a great opportunity for me to see how the courts operate in the United States. The differences between the US and China legal systems provoked my curiosity. I was eager to explore how to ensure substantive justice in a case while following due process and how to apply precedents to different situations. I went on my second exchange study-abroad program to ……University fall of 2012 and participated in their LL.M. program. During this exchange study period, the issue of how to balance crime control and protection of human rights perplexed me. From then on, the thought of completing the LL.M. program in Cornell Law School, a school with unsurpassed legal education, has propelled me.
As a part of my degree, I interned at different legal departments. I was very fortunate to have an opportunity to intern at the Beijing office of ……. By involving myself in cases such as security offerings by Chinese corporate issuers and US security class actions against China-based companies listed on US stock exchanges, I became more aware of how a practicing lawyer gets involved in international trades. I researched on whether some foreign statutes are effective and I participated in legal work and preliminary drafting of research reports. With my sight set on more challenges, I would like to deepen my legal skills and be equipped for international experiences. To that end, pursuing an LL.M. at Cornell Law School seems to be the best option.
I believe that pursuing an LL.M. at Cornell University would provide me with the necessary foundation to understand the nuances and intricacies of different legal systems, and help me add an international perspective. I am most interested in taking courses at Cornell Law School such as International and Foreign Legal Research and International Law and Foreign Direct Investment, as well as being an active member of the Briggs Society of International Law. As one of the Ivy League universities, Cornell University combines outstanding, preeminent faculty with a diverse and talented student body. 公派留學(xué)生要有什么條件才能申請
一、國家公派留學(xué)申請條件
博士研究生申請時年齡不超過35歲具有碩士學(xué)位，或申請時為應(yīng)屆本科畢業(yè)生，或在讀碩士生(含應(yīng)屆碩士畢業(yè)生)或博士一年級學(xué)生。
碩士研究生申請時年齡不超過30歲，具有學(xué)士學(xué)位或優(yōu)秀本科畢業(yè)生，身體健康，表現(xiàn)良好。
訪問學(xué)者(含博士后研究)申請時年齡不超過50歲，應(yīng)為高等學(xué)校、企事業(yè)單位、各級行政單位、科研單位的正式工作人員。
高級研究學(xué)者申請時年齡不超過55歲，除應(yīng)符合訪問學(xué)者的申請條件外，還需具備以下條件之一：
①國家重點實驗室、教育部重點實驗室、國家工程(技術(shù))研究中心骨干;
②“長江學(xué)者”特聘教授或教育部當(dāng)年確定支持的創(chuàng)新團隊中的骨干或“新世紀(jì)優(yōu)秀人才計劃”入選者及其他國家級人才計劃入選者;
③教育部批準(zhǔn)的國家重點學(xué)科學(xué)術(shù)帶頭人;
④中央國家機關(guān)、地方行政管理部門、國有大中型企業(yè)高級行政管理人員。
其中教學(xué)科研人員應(yīng)為教授、博士生導(dǎo)師;中央國家機關(guān)、地方行政管理部門管理人員應(yīng)具有副司局級(包括副司局級)以上行政職務(wù);國有大中型企業(yè)管理人員應(yīng)具有相當(dāng)于副司局級(包括副司局級)以上行政職務(wù)。
申請人應(yīng)為高等學(xué)校、企業(yè)事業(yè)單位、行政機關(guān)、科研機構(gòu)的正式工作人員和在校優(yōu)秀學(xué)生，且符合下列基本條件：
1、熱愛祖國，熱愛社會主義，具有良好的政治和業(yè)務(wù)素質(zhì)，無違法違紀(jì)記錄，在工作、學(xué)習(xí)中表現(xiàn)突出，學(xué)成后回國為祖國建設(shè)服務(wù);
2、具有良好專業(yè)基礎(chǔ)和發(fā)展?jié)摿?，外語水平達到《國家留學(xué)基金資助出國留學(xué)外語條件》規(guī)定的要求;
3、身心健康;
4、符合有關(guān)獎學(xué)金項目選拔簡章的具體要求;
5、曾經(jīng)享受國家留學(xué)基金資助出國留學(xué)的人員，回國后工作一般須滿五年方可再次申請。
二、如何申請
1、國家留學(xué)基金全額資助項目、與有關(guān)國家互換獎學(xué)金項目按照“個人申請，專家評審，平等競爭，擇優(yōu)錄取”的方式進行選拔，并由留學(xué)基金委委托有關(guān)國家留學(xué)基金申請受理機構(gòu)(以下簡稱受理機構(gòu))受理，留學(xué)基金委不直接受理個人及單位的申請。受理機構(gòu)負(fù)責(zé)接受咨詢、受理申請材料及對材料進行審核等事宜。各受理機構(gòu)的地址及電話請上_網(wǎng)()查詢。
2、專項出國留學(xué)項目及有關(guān)合作項目按照“個人申請，單位推薦，專家評審，平等競爭，擇優(yōu)錄取”的方式進行選拔，由各有關(guān)單位按項目要求統(tǒng)一組織申報并提交申請材料，留學(xué)基金委不受理個人申請。部分項目如高?；A(chǔ)課任課教師出國研修項目、俄羅斯藝術(shù)類項目等，留學(xué)基金委將委托有關(guān)受理機構(gòu)受理申請(具體項目請查閱附件五《通過受理機構(gòu)申請項目一覽表》)。其他項目由留學(xué)基金委按項目要求直接受理申請。部分項目的遴選事宜，留學(xué)基金委將及時在_網(wǎng)上公布并將遴選通知發(fā)至有關(guān)單位，在此之前暫不受理申請。具體申請辦法請查閱《20_年國家留學(xué)基金資助出國留學(xué)項目指南》。
三、公費出國留學(xué)申請材料
1、《國家留學(xué)基金管理委員會出國留學(xué)申請表》(20_年版);
2、本人所在單位出具的由單位負(fù)責(zé)人簽發(fā)和蓋有單位公章的《單位推薦意見表》;
3、兩份由具有正高級專業(yè)技術(shù)職務(wù)專家、學(xué)者出具并署名的推薦信(固定樣式);
4、工作簡歷;
5、獲獎證書復(fù)印件(若無可不附);
6、國外單位邀請信復(fù)印件(若無可不附);
7、身份證、職稱證書、最高學(xué)歷、學(xué)位證書復(fù)印件;
8、外語水平證明復(fù)印件(若無可不附);
9、體檢表原件;
10、有關(guān)項目要求提交的其他材料;
11、《出國留學(xué)專家評審意見表》;
12、《CSC出國留學(xué)基金申請人員信息一覽表》。《國家留學(xué)基金管理委員會出國留學(xué)申請表》、《單位推薦意見表》、《專家推薦信(附件2-1)》、《專家推薦信(附件2-2)》、《出國留學(xué)專家評審意見表》、《CSC出國留學(xué)基金申請人員信息一覽表》等請從_網(wǎng)下載(所有表格均為WORD格式)，并按規(guī)定填寫(具體請見附件四《關(guān)于準(zhǔn)備國家留學(xué)基金資助出國留學(xué)申請材料的說明》)。申請者須向受理機構(gòu)提交申請材料一式五份(原件一份，復(fù)印件四份)。提交材料時，須按規(guī)定交納報名費和評審費共計人民幣500元/人。
出國留學(xué)省錢方法介紹
一、外出
1、要出去做某件事時，提早規(guī)劃好時間行程，不要趕火車遲到，出現(xiàn)退票扣手續(xù)費的情形，也不能在某處停留過久，以至于趕不上最后一趟地鐵，只好打的，然而晚上坐車價格上不劃算外，更重要的是，也不安全。所以，盡量在白天出門，做事干脆一些，拖沓的習(xí)慣是不可取的。
2、購置一輛二手單車是必要的，花十幾分鐘就可以滿足日常需求，比如買菜、逛書店等，一開始買車沒必要很貴，質(zhì)量中等就好，等熟悉街道，對基礎(chǔ)的交通法律法規(guī)有了清晰認(rèn)知后，再決定是否重新買好一點的山地自行車。
3、經(jīng)常去的超市和大商場，記得詢問會員卡辦理流程，因為購物頻率很高，能積攢不少的積分，到推出活動的時候，能享受到很多優(yōu)惠福利。
4、帶好學(xué)生證件，太管用了，坐汽車、火車、飛機等各類工具，幾乎都有減免。
5、蔬菜瓜果去批發(fā)市場買，本身它的全國均價較高，肉類則比較便宜。
二、擇校
做一個準(zhǔn)確的定位，結(jié)合校園氛圍、師資水準(zhǔn)、周邊環(huán)境等，綜合判斷，還要考慮到大中小城市的消費情況，以及未來的發(fā)展空間是否有上升潛能。
除了看學(xué)校實力，還要選擇好合適的專業(yè)，不同科目的收費標(biāo)準(zhǔn)會有差異。
三、住宿
