Mathematics and Physics have always been my favourite subjects throughout my schooling career, mostly due to the implications on the real world. By taking Mechanical Engineering at university, I have the opportunity to continue with these two passions of mine. I have enjoyed carrying out practical experiments which can then be proved using mathematical calculations. I took part in a Combined Cadet Force (CCF) and specialised in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (REME) section. In this, five pupils maintained and repaired old cars then use them to practise driving skills on the school grounds. This has given me an insight of the engineering behind everyday cars and has increased my enthusiasm to study engineering at university and then possibly begin a career in this field. Over the summer, I arranged for an expert to take me out to see a nodding donkey and explain how they worked. Sport has led a major role in my life over the recent years. I have regularly taken part in inter-house matches in rugby, basketball, hockey, and five a side indoor football and represented my school in rugby. I also enjoy running and have taken part in two long distance races, one of which was sponsored and for charity. Music has also been a large influence on my life as I have been playing the Alto Saxophone since I was nine years of age. I feel music is essential as it can be used to relax from the hectic school days. There are frequent Political Society and Science Society meetings that I regularly attend which greatly helped me as they expand my knowledge and showed me how theories learnt in lessons were put into practice in real life situations. I find these societies to be very intriguing because they offer me the chance to talk in depth to experts about subjects that they specialize in and have come to talk at the meetings about, thus broadening my knowledge and interest in the subjects I take part in
As an Upper Sixth House Prefect, I have had to take on many new responsibilities and have learnt a lot about myself. My main role around house as a prefect was to organise chores and jobs that needed to be done. This has taught me a lot about organising things well in advance and making sure everyone can do what they are asked efficiently. In Lower 6th, I was on a team of seven pupils elected to run a fête during a school sports day. On this committee, I found that much planning needs to be done in preparation for such large scale events and even the smaller tasks needed to be done well in advance
When things needed done, leadership skills came into place to delegate tasks and bring all of the events together. On the day, the seven pupils had to perform under pressure which we did and the fête was a success.

公派出國留學的條件
公派留學，是國家給一些人才的“特別優(yōu)待”，是我國人才強國戰(zhàn)略的重大舉措，是根據(jù)我國現(xiàn)代化建設(shè)發(fā)展需要選拔優(yōu)秀人才出國深造的一條重要途徑，一般派往科技教育發(fā)達的國家和地區(qū)的知名院校。
公派留學如何選拔?公派出國留學生是經(jīng)過高校和政府部門層層選拔競爭后出爐的，要經(jīng)過了嚴格考核。申請國家留學基金管理委員會開設(shè)的項目，由省教育廳向基金委遞交申報材料，由國家基金委組織錄取工作。
1、采取“個人申請，單位推薦、專家評審、擇優(yōu)錄取”的方式進行選拔。凡符合申請條件的中國公民，均可按規(guī)定的程序申請。
2、申請時間：一般為每年2月20日—3月20日。
3、申請辦法：采用網(wǎng)上報名的方式。申請人登錄_網(wǎng)上報名系統(tǒng)進行報名，并按規(guī)定提交申請材料。
4、具體選拔辦法按《國家留學基金資助出國留學選拔簡章》的規(guī)定執(zhí)行。博士研究生申請時年齡不超過35歲具有碩士學位，碩士研究生申請時年齡不超過30歲，訪問學者(含博士后研究)申請時年齡不超過50歲，申請人應(yīng)為高等學校、企業(yè)事業(yè)單位、行政機關(guān)、科研機構(gòu)的正式工作人員和在校優(yōu)秀學生。
公費出國留學人員的選派
(1)公費出國留學人員是指根據(jù)國家建設(shè)需要得到國家以及有關(guān)部門、地方、單位全部或部分資助后通過各種渠道和方式有計劃派出的留學人員。
按國家統(tǒng)一計劃，面向全國招生、統(tǒng)一選拔、派出、執(zhí)行統(tǒng)一經(jīng)費開支規(guī)定的出國留學人員為國家公費出國留學人員(簡稱“國家公費);
(2)公費出國留學人員分為大學生、研究生、進修人員和訪問學者。
(3)出國攻讀大學本科、?？坪脱芯可牧魧W人員在國外的學習年限一般按對方國家的學制，由派出單位來確定。出國進修人員和訪問學者國外活動期限一般限制在三個月至一年，特殊情況可放寬至一年半，需由派出單位按派遣計劃進行最終確定。
(4)派出單位要幫助和指導公費出國留學人員選好在國外學習、進修、實習或從事研究的單位。
出國留學該如何匯款到國外
1.電匯方便快捷
據(jù)中國銀行深圳分行個人金融部黃女士介紹，向國外匯出匯款，電匯是一種比較常用的方法，現(xiàn)在很多學校要求學生直接把學費電匯到指定的賬戶上，電匯一般兩到三個工作日到賬，分為外匯匯款和外鈔匯款。
如果采取外匯匯款，深圳中行按匯款金額收取千分之一的手續(xù)費和人民幣150元的電報費(港澳地區(qū)為人民幣80元)。
如果是外鈔匯款的話，除千分之一的手續(xù)費和電報費以外，還要收取一定的“鈔轉(zhuǎn)匯”的費用，這筆費用根據(jù)當天“鈔賣匯買”的差價來收取。
據(jù)介紹，鈔轉(zhuǎn)匯的費用的產(chǎn)生是因為就個人儲蓄來說，外匯可以直接轉(zhuǎn)成外鈔，但是外鈔不能隨意轉(zhuǎn)成外匯，當匯款人采取“匯出”現(xiàn)鈔時，由于現(xiàn)鈔有實物的形式，銀行必須將其出運至國外，運輸費用將由客戶承擔，表現(xiàn)為“鈔賣匯買”(客戶賣出現(xiàn)鈔、買入現(xiàn)匯)。
“鈔轉(zhuǎn)匯”的費用和手續(xù)費可按當日匯價折算成人民幣計收，折算后手續(xù)費最低為人民幣50元，為人民幣260元。
2.信用卡花銷盡在掌握
在孩子出國之前，您可以到本地銀行辦理一張國際信用卡，并選用主卡和附卡的形式，信用卡的主卡留在您這兒，附卡給孩子帶走。在境外，孩子可以用這張附卡來進行日常的消費，這一般不收取任何額外手續(xù)費用的(銀行會按照國際信用卡組織公布的外匯買賣牌價，自動轉(zhuǎn)換成您信用卡的幣種進行結(jié)算)。有的學校甚至可以用信用卡直接刷卡來繳學費。孩子消費的賬單銀行會每月按時給您寄回，這樣您在家就可以明曉孩子在國外的消費，信用卡就是您掌握孩子國外花銷的半個“管家”了。另外，用信用卡消費可以享受到20~50天的免息付款期，方便您和孩子的資金周轉(zhuǎn)。不過需要提醒一下的是，用國際信用卡在國外取現(xiàn)金就不劃算了，如中行的長城國際卡在國外取現(xiàn)，會按取款金額的百分之三收取手續(xù)費。
3.票匯相對便宜
據(jù)中國銀行深圳分行有關(guān)人士介紹，票匯是銀行給匯款人開出匯票，然后本人攜帶匯票出國，或者采取郵寄的方式把匯票寄往國外。票匯不收電報費，其他收費項目和標準與電匯相同。
雖然票匯的費用相對便宜一些，但是它沒有電匯的速度快，而且票匯需要到開票行的國外網(wǎng)點或開票行的指定托收行辦理解付手續(xù)。
銀行人士建議大額匯款采取電匯的方式，因為匯票一旦遺失，掛失等手續(xù)相對麻煩一些，而且匯票有一年的有效期，過了有效期就會退回到原來的開票行。
4.西聯(lián)匯款、速匯金即時到賬
目前專業(yè)匯款公司紛紛和國內(nèi)銀行合作，推出了一系列快捷的跨國匯款服務(wù)，如與農(nóng)行、郵局合作的西聯(lián)匯款、與工行合作的速匯金匯款等。這種匯款方式可以即時到賬，免收鈔轉(zhuǎn)匯費用、中間銀行手續(xù)費和電報費，只按照相應(yīng)的匯款金額所屬等級一次性收取手續(xù)費。如農(nóng)行西聯(lián)匯款1000到2000美元收取25美元手續(xù)費，2000到5000美元收取30美元手續(xù)費。一般而言，匯款的數(shù)額大，費用相對就低;而匯款數(shù)額小，相對費用就高。
5.旅行支票靈活方便
旅行支票使用起來靈活方便，兼有現(xiàn)金和匯票的特點，有固定的面值，并有多種面額可以選擇，沒有確定的使用地點和使用期限，在境外既可直接繳納學費又可用于日常消費。
