Once there was a poem, it was said
There’s a lot of joy in living,
If we face life with a smile;
Take time to do some kindness,
And go the second mile.
For the greatest joy is giving,
And it all comes back to you
When you add a little sunshine
To all you say and you do.
Before the day is ended
Try to do something worthwhile,
Help to ease another’s burden
And make a sad heart sing.
You will find each new tomorrow
Will be happy from the start
If you only will remember,
Keep a smile within your heart!
For years scientists have asked themselves a question “Why do we smile?” No other animals smile—only human beings, so does smile help us to survive in any way? The answer seems to be that smiling helps us to relax, reducing tension and preventing illnesses which are caused by stress. On the whole, smiling is really good to us.
But some people may still think: if you’re unhappy, it can’t do you any good to smile, can it? Actually, it is not true. Apparently the opposite effects of smiling are just the same whether you feel like smiling or not. Scientists in Californian asked a group of actors to act five different feelings; happiness, sadness, anger, surprise and fear—just using their faces.
During they were acting, the change in their heart rate, blood pressure and temperature were written down. Most of the feelings they acted didn’t cause any changes, but when the actors smiled, their heart rate and their blood pressure went down. This happened even though they were only acting! So even if we really feel sad inside, smiling also seems to make us feel better.
Besides those, smiling also helps to keep things in perspective. Being interfered by friends or a flat tyre won’t seem quite so bad if you can see the funny side. So if you find yourself in a stressful situation, try to imagine how it must seem to an outsider and let yourself giggle. As a psychologist once wrote: “If people try to show a positive reaction instead of a negative one, this will eventually become part of their personality. If you start to smile, in time you will actually become happier.”
So, forget about the unhappy things, face life with a smile, it will make our life more colorful!
微笑面對(duì)生活英文演講
good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen!
today i’d like to share my personal experience of happiness and bitterness of being an english teacher.
i remember, five years ago, when i stood at the teacher’s desk for the first time, maybe because i was too young, maybe because i was too inexperienced, the students in my class paid no attention to me, didn’t behave themselves at all. i felt ashamed and helpless. in order to save my face, i just criticized the students seriously whenever they talked in class or even moved a little. i thought sooner or later, they would listen to me. yes, i could control the class now, but the students and the atmosphere became strange. no, they were not listening to me. it was too quiet. the breathless silence urged me to consider the way i was teaching.

Let Go Love
There was once a lonely girl who longed so much for love. One day while
She was walking in the woods she found two starving songbirds. She took them home and put them in a small cage. She cared them with love and the birds grew strong. Every morning they greeted her with a wonderful song. The girl felt great love for the birds . one day the girl felt the door to the cage open. The larger and stronger of the two birds flew from the cage. The girl was so frightened that he would fly away. As he flew close, she grasped him wildly. Her heart felt glad at her success in capturing him.
Suddenly she felt the bird go limp. She opened her hand and stared in horror at the dead bird. Her desperate love had killed him. She noticed the other bird moving back and forth on the edge of the cage. She could feel his great need for freedom. He nedded to soar into the clear, blue sky. She lifted him from the cage and tossed him softly into the air. The bird circled once, twice three times. The girl watched delightedly at the bird’s enjoyment. Her heart was no longer concerned with her loss. She wanted the bird to be happy. Suddenly the bird flew closer and landed softly on her shoulder. It sang the sweetest melody that she had ever heard. The fastest way to lose love is to hold on it.
