Happiness is for everyone, and you don’t need to care about those people who have beautiful houses with 16 and swimming pools or those who have nice cars 17 a lot of money and so on. Why? Because those who have big houses may often 18 lonely and those who have cars may want to walk on the country roads in their free time.
In fact, happiness is always around you if you put your heart into it. When you are in 19 at school, your friends will help you; when you study at your lessons, your parents are always 20 good care of your life and your health; when you get 21 , your friends will say congratulations to you; when you do something wrong, people around you will help you to 22 it. And when you do something good to others, you will feel happy, too. All these are your happiness. If you notice those things, you can see that happiness is always 23 you.
Happiness is not the same as money. It is a feeling of your heart. When you are poor you can also say you are very happy because you have something else that can’t be bought with money. When you meet difficulties, you can say loudly you are very happy because you have more chances to 24 yourself. So you cannot always say you are poor or you have bad luck. As the saying goes: Life is like a revolving(轉(zhuǎn)動(dòng)的)door. When it 25 , it also opens. If you take every chance you get, you can be a happy and lucky person.

You may know the English letters A, B and C. But do you know there are people called ABC? You may like eating bananas. But did you know there is such a thing as a “banana person”? How strange! Are these people from “another earth” ? No. They are just Chinese people like you and me.
ABC means American-born-Chinese. An ABC is a Chinese, but was born in the United States. Sometimes, people call an ABC a “banana person”. A banana is yellow outside and white inside. So, when a person is a banana, he or she is white inside---hinting like a Westerner(西方人) and yellow outside --- looking like a Chinese.
Do you know why? Usually, ABCs know little about China or the Chinese language. Some of them don’t speak Chinese. Also, they are not interested in Chinese politics(政治), But if ABCs can’t speak Chinese, can we still call them Chinese people? Yes, of course. They are Chinese. They are oversea Chinese. These people may be citizens(公民) of another country like the US, Canada or Singapore. But they have Chinese blood. Their parents, grandparents or even great-grandparents were from China. They all have black eyes and black hair. But they are not Chinese citizens. They are not people of the People’s Republic of China. For example, we all know the famous scientist C.N. Yang(楊振寧). He got the Nobel Prize Physics in 1957. Chinese people love him. But he is an American citizen.
36.“ABC” in this passage stands for “_______”.
A. a kind of banana
B. three English letters
C. American-born-Chinese
D Chinese-born-American
37.Chinese in Westerner countries are called “banana persons” because _________
