After reading the text “Getting to Know Steven Spielberg”, I know that Steven Spielberg is a world-famous and productive director, producer and writer.
What has impressed me most is Steven Spielberg’s spirit of hard work. Spielberg had his own dream of going to the Film Academy when he was young. Before reading the text, I had almost nothing to do at school all the day. I disliked studying because I found studying difficult, so I made little progress. Now I have made up my mind to learn from Steven Spielberg, especially his spirit of hard work. It will certainly encourage me to work harder so that I can become a good student in the near future. It was Steven Spielberg who let me know that working hard and believing in yourself will make your dreams come true. I’ll try my best to make it. There is a saying, “Where there is a will, there is a way.”

The advances of our space technology will be of great benefit to us in the long run. Thanks to communications satellites, we can see television pictures transmitted live half-way across the globe. Without exploring the space, we could never figure out its mysteries or broaden our horizons far beyond the boundaries of the planet Earth. Besides, what distinguishes us from animals is that we know we need to explore, indeed, the space technology is not only the search for knowledge but also a mirror of the strength and prestige of our nation. Every Chinese will become proud of the spectacle depicted in the picture.
China is growing stronger and stronger, and it would never lag behind in the progress of science and technology. We are looking forward to new achievements coming up all the time, as is shown in the spectacle.

Where do yo like to live?That is an interesting question.Usually people like to live in big city.But recently,more and more people chose to live outside the city, to live in suburb.
It is true that living in big city is convenient and entertaining.Your work place is not far away,and after work,it is easy for you to call your friends to go to a bar or cinema.There are supermarkets, shopping malls.You can easily buy any stuff you need.Want to have a dinner?no problem,there are plenty kinds of restaurants for you to choose.In contract,living in suburb is quite different.It serves fresh air and beautiful scenery and, for someone that is the most important thing,quiet.Though live in suburb have some inconvenient aspects,some people seem to perefer to sacrifice some convenience to live in quiet places.And as cars and internet are becoming more and more common.Living in suburb is not so boring like before.
For me,I like to live in big city when i am young,because the colorful life and convenience for working.And when I was old,I may choose to live in suburb to enjoy the quiet life and fresh air.Do yo think so?

On farms and in factories, they help to do difficult work. In offices and at homes, they take over routine jobs. With their incredible potentials, fantastic speed and unbelievable convenience, computers are getting increasingly important in our life. The truth of the matter, however, is that any new technology, including computers, has a "dark" side. Computer crimes,which are difficuh to detect, cause a lot of trouble to business and industry.
Unexpected computer viruses may destroy a large quantity of useful information. Furthermore, the indulgence of children in computer games is very had for their mental and physical healthy development. We should therefore, be careful in using conlputers.

(Working for a Living)
In the first years of this century there was a notable difference between people who livedon farms and people who lived in country towns and villages. Outsider city people .... did not un-derstand these differences but the town people and farmers were very sure of them. In general, people in the towns saw people who lived on farms as more apt to be slow-witted,tongue-tied, uncivilized, than themselves and somewhat more docile in spite of their strength.
Farmers saw people who lived in towns as having an easy life and being unlikely to survive in situations calling for fortitude, self-reliance, lifelong hard work. They believed this in spite of the fact that the hours men worked at factories or stores or at any job in town were long,and the wages Iow, and that many houses in town had no running water or flush toilets or electricity. And to a certain extent they were right, for the people in town had Sundays and Wednesday or Saturday afternoons off. and the farmers didn‘t. The townspeople too were not altogether mistaken, for the country people when they came into town to church were often very stiff and shy and the women were never so pushy and confident as town women in the stores, and the country children who came in to go to High School or Continuation School,though they might get good marks and go on to successful careers later, were hardly ever elected President of the Literary Society, or Class Representative, or given the award as Most Outstanding Student.
Even money did not make much difference; farmers maintained a certain proud and wary reserve that might be seen as diffidence, in the presence of citizens they could buy ahd sell.
