Over the past ten years, the E-commerce revolution has transformed the way we shop to the point where you don’t even have to get dressed and make contact(接觸) with another human to find a great deal! Although the amount of time and money we spend online grows every year, the E-commerce experience has changed very little since its beginning.

In the beginning, E-commerce was expected to transform the way we shop. In many ways it has lived up to that expectation, but still lacks many of the basic virtues like those in-store shopping experience. For instance, if you shop regularly at your favorite chocolate, or fitness equipment store, it is likely that the employees or owner will get to know you. They will remember what you have purchased, become familiar with your particular taste or workout preference, and suggest items that may be of interest to you.

Although many websites do remember your name, the last item you purchased, or suggest additional items you may want, the experience as a whole is still somewhat predictable, cold and calculated. Completely lacking is the human element, the element that sells to you, or convinces you to change your mind. There is no bargaining and there are no surprises. In this regard, E-commerce has been unable to provide the same experience that shoppers take delight in. Thanks to some dynamic web technologies, all this is due to change in the near future.

Imagine visiting your favorite online store and coming across all kinds of devices. This is something you have been dreaming about for the past three weeks, so you read all about it, examine every photo, and experiment. Then after twenty minutes of consideration, you decide not to buy it, and return to your Facebook page. Had you been in an actual store talking to a live person, that individual may have been able to convince you to make the purchase by sweetening the deal or lowering the price. You would have been transformed from an observer to the proud new owner. But because you're shopping online, a situation which would normally have been an easy sale has become instead, a missed opportunity for both you and the merchant.

  21. Which of the following is True about in-store shopping?

  A. Shoppers don’t bargain with the merchant.

  B. Shoppers make less contact with another human.

  C. Store owners are unfamiliar with shoppers’ preference.

  D. Store owners may convince you to make the purchase.

  22. What does the underlined word “calculated” mean?

  A. Hard. B. Surprising. C. Designed. D. Unforgettable.

  23. What’s the writer’s attitude towards E-commerce?

  A. Disappointed. B. Objective. C. Favorable. D. Doubtful.

  24. What can we infer from the text?

  A. More human elements need to be added to E-commerce.

  B. Too much time and money is spent on E-commerce.

  C. E-commerce experience has changed a lot.

  D. E-commerce provides more products than in-store shopping.

Aunt Polly was sitting napping(打盹), the cat on her lap, when Tom came in. She was surprised to see him; she had expected him to have deserted his work a long time ago.

“Can I go and play now, Auntie?” he asked.

“What? Already? How much have you done?”

  “It’s all done, Auntie.”

  “Don’t lie to me, Tom.”

“I’m not lying, Auntie. Honest. It’s all done.”

Aunt Polly still did not believe him. She got up and went out to see for herself. When she saw the perfect white fence, her astonishment was indescribable.

“Well, I never! You can certainly work when you want to! Yes, of course you can go and play.”

She was so overcome by his splendid work that she took him into the kitchen and gave him one of the best apples. As he was running down the garden, he saw Sid and managed to hit him with a few hard pieces of earth before disappearing over the fence.

“Just to teach him a lesson for telling about the black cotton.” he said to himself.

Walking past Jeff Thatcher’s house, he saw a new girl in the garden. She had long yellow hair and blue eyes and was dressed in a white summer dress. She was the most beautiful creature Tom had ever seen. A certain Amy Lawrence immediately went out of his heart: he thought he loved her more than anything else in the world—in fact, he had only won her a week before. Then, in one instant, he forgot her completely. When this angel(天使) noticed him, Tom began showing off in all sorts of ways to impress her—doing unbelievable gymnastic performances. When she threw a flower over the fence, Tom ran to pick up and put it inside his shirt, next to where he thought his heart must be.

But he didn’t leave the fence. He remained there, hoping to see her at the window, but in vain.

After supper he went out again. At ten o’clock, he stood under the upstairs window with a lighted candle, lay down on the grass and decided to die at her feet. Suddenly a bucket(水桶) of water was poured upon him. Tom arrived home wet all over.

  25. Why was Aunt Polly surprised to see Tom come in?

  A. Tom had given up his work half way.

  B. Tom had worked so long.

  C. Tom was lying to her.

  D. Tom should have done his work earlier.

  26. What had Tom been asked to do before he was allowed out?

  A. Cook in the kitchen. B. Do gymnastics performances.

  C. Paint the fence white. D. Hang out with his girl friend.

  27. We can learn from the passage that ______.

  A. Aunt Polly quite appreciated whatever Tom did

  B. Tom enjoyed making fun of Sid

  C. Tom was deep in love with Amy Lawrence

  D. Tom’s new love didn’t seem to go well

  C

The nation’s two biggest school systems — New York City and Los Angeles received threats Tuesday of a large-scale attack with guns and bombs. LA reacted by shutting down the entire district, while New York dismissed the warning as an amateurish trick and held classes.

It’s extremely rare for a major U.S. city to close all its schools because of a threat and it reflected the unease hanging about in Southern California following the terrorist attack that killed 14 people at a holiday lunch two weeks ago in San Bernardino.

In LA, the threat came in the form of an email to a school board member. Authorities in New York reported receiving the same type of email and decided there was no danger to schoolchildren. Mayor Bill de Blasio concluded the threat contained “nothing believable.” It was so unconventional,” he said.

New York Police Commissioner William Bratton agreed and said that it looked like the sender of the threat had watched a lot of the Showtime terrorism drama Homeland. Bratton indicated that the type of threats in the email mirrored some recent scenes of the show.

The shutdown closed all its schools across Los Angeles. Officials announced Tuesday evening that schools would reopen Wednesday.

Officials in LA defended the move to shut schools, with that city’s police chief dismissing the criticism as “irresponsible.”

“We have suffered too many school shootings in America to ignore these kinds of threats,” Chief Charlie Beck said at a news conference. Jordan Tama, an assistant professor at American University specializing in U.S. counterterrorism(反恐怖主義)policy, said it’s not unreasonable for authorities in different places to make different decisions based on the same information.

  28. What did New York City think of the email threats?

  A. Tricky. B. Professional. C. Conventional. D. Serious.

  29. Why did LA shut all its schools at the threats?

  A. LA respected school education more.

  B. Officials in LA were irresponsible.

  C. The terrorist attack in San Bernardino left LA still uneasy.

  D. The school teachers watched too much of the terrorism drama.

  30. Why did New York authorities make a different decision?

  A. They hadn’t received the same threat before.

  B. They thought the threat so unconventional and unbelievable.

  C. New York had witnessed too many school shootings.

  D. They thought it rare to close all its schools for a threat.

  31. What would be the best title of this passage?

  A. Terrorism attacks break out in LA & NY

  B. Email threats are copies of a terrorism drama

  C. NY and LA authorities make different decisions

  D. NY, LA schools receive threats; LA cancels classes

  D

Munkacsy ever worked as a carpenter. He spent 3 years in workshop and 2 years as a woodworker. The experiences of working with the underclass have trained his observation ability of realism, which foretold the future creation of his masterpiece The Last Day of Condemned Man. I have seen many of Munkacsy’s paintings on different occasions.

Despite having suffered many setbacks in his life and passed away only at age of 56, Munkacsy had created large numbers of paintings in various styles. From his early success of realism themes to Barbizon landscapes(風景畫), then to those beautiful Salon paintings which represented lives of Paris upper class society, Munkacsy was always challenging himself by changing subjects and themes. However, after a period of creative practice, he found out that instead of making those peaceful and elegant landscapes or Salon paintings, deep down in his heart he was still willing to represent more deep and meaningful themes. Thus, after his realism masterpiece The Last Day of Condemned Man, he started to focus on another traditional theme creation: The Christ Trilogy(三部曲).

Christ Before Pilate was the first theme in his Christ Trilogy series. Based on the Bible(圣經(jīng)), the picture shows a victorious Christ who is standing in the middle with a bright whiteness and defeats his mean enemies and the hesitating Roman governor Pilate. Comparing through each character’s facial details, the one which is displayed in Munkacsy Museum is more like an unfinished piece, which is far rougher than the largest and most famous edition of this painting, exhibited in the Beijing Fine Art Academy earlier this year. The fact is that it is not so unusual that an artist painted one theme for many times. In Munkacsy’s case, he completed two versions of The Last Day of Condemned Man, and I have personally seen three versions of this late Christ Before Pilate altogether, exactly same composition but the sizes and details of each painting are quite different. How many Christ Before Pilate did he paint? Which one did he paint first and what are their orders? Maybe someday, I will write an academic thesis to discuss this topic.

  32. Which is related to Munkacsy’s life as a carpenter?

  A. The Christ Trilogy. B. The Last Day of Condemned Man.

  C. Barbizon landscapes. D. Salon paintings.

  33. What is the theme of Munkacsy’s latest paintings?

  A. Realism. B. Salon. C. Religion. D. Landscape.

  34. What does the writer think of an artist painting one theme for many times?

  A. Unreasonable. B. Common. C. Creative. D. Traditional.

  35. What makes the three versions of the late Christ Before Pilate different?

  A. The characters. B. The themes.

  C. The time periods. D. The sizes and details.

  第二節(jié)(共5小題;每小題2分,滿分10分)

  根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,從短文后的七個選項中選出能填入空白處的最佳選項。選項中有兩項為多余選項。

Fresh Canadian Air Sells Big in China

Vitality Air, a Canadian company, is making money from air pollution problems abroad by selling bottled fresh air from the Rockies.

“To be honest, we’re selling air,” Troy Paquette, one of the company’s co-founders, said. “ 36 .”

The idea came to Paquette and his friend Moses Lam as a bit of a joke. They chatted to some people who lived abroad in regions with severe air pollution. Paquette and Lam joked about packaging some fresh Canadian air and shipping it around the world so people could experience it.

37 . The men put up their products on eBay, with prices varying from15 to 46 U.S. dollars. Some of the products are sold to Canadians, but interest has also come from China, Iran, Afghanistan and other places abroad, Paquette said.

38 . For several days, the city reported the level of PM 2.5 to be more than 600 micrograms per cubic meter. The government ordered all outdoor construction to stop and all schools to remain closed until the smog cleared. Paquette believes the country’s air pollution contributes to the recent increase the company sees in interest from China.

39 . They are in talks with cooperators in China, as well as in other countries, who want to keep the product in stores.

  “ 40 ,” Paquette said.

  A. Clean, beautiful, fresh mountain air

  B. We are hunting for Chinese cooperators

  C. That’s something on our original schedule

  D. Now, Paquette and Lam are considering bigger plans

  E. It’s something we never expected in our wildest dreams

  F. Several months later, they turned the joke into a reality

  G. Earlier this month, Beijing gave its first-ever warning for air pollution
