Frauds(詐騙犯)play complex psychological tricks to fool others, says Colin Barras.and that means anyone can be cheated unless they know what to look for.
None of us likes to be cheated, and David Modic has done some researches on it.It’s the personal passion that has convinced Modic to study the psychology of cheating. He s not alone:the field is thriving, and the information that researchers are uncovering is valuable to us all-from those single in search of love to the technology wizards(人才) in charge of the world’s online security.
Modic is particularly interested in what makes people easy to fraud. It’s common to imagine that only the foolish or poorly educated might fall victim-but even hard evidence suggests this is not the ease.Take Paul Frampton,an Oxbridge educated academic professor of physics for example. In 2012 Frampton was given almost 5 years in prison for drug smuggling in Ar-gentina,after falling victim to an online dating frauds. And then there’s John Worley. As a psychotherapist,Worley knows more than most of us about controlling life’s right ways. But in 2005 he was put on trial for bank fraud after becoming a victim of a fraud. This fraud sees people contacted by someone claiming to be a Nigerian government official appealing for help moving large sums of money out of the country — who just requires a little money upfront (預付的)to release the fortune.Worley was found guilty and sentenced to two years in prison.
Intelligent and experience offer no protection against cheaters, says Modic.“If it did, then better educated people and older people would be less likely to fall for scams. And that is not supported by my research.”
To look for answers to that question,Modic and Frank Stajano have quizzed thousands of people, asking them first whether they think various frauds are reasonable—and whether they have fallen victim to them— before asking them to perform a personality test. The re-search has identified a number of characteristics that people who are victims of frauds seem to in common. Some of these traits—like a lack of self-control— we would probably recognize as dangerous. But others—a trust in authority,a desire to act in the same way as our friends,or a tendency to act in a consistent way—we might think of as good characteristics.
58.According to the passage,the frauds may ________.

Electronic sensors built into paper could be used in a range of ways from information stor-age to touch screens and more.
Electronic sensors built into cartons(紙盒)may make it easier to tell when it’s time to throw out rotten milk or orange juice. And that’s just the start. At least that’s the goal for re-searchers working on putting electronics into paper. They’re trying to figure out how to combine the flexibility,low-cost and recyclability of paper with the information-carrying ability of electronics.
Daniel Torbjork,a physics graduate student in Finland, has been working on the problem. He’s published a review of the field in the the journal Advanced Materials.
Much research has been focused in this area. While most electronic applications require patterned conducting(傳導的) structures, conductive paper could be used in applications such as energy storage devices.sensors, electric heaters and others, according to Torbjork.
“You could even have some interactive functions in magazines,” Torbjork said,“You could put a simple game in a package. If you want a touch screen, press a button and then something happen.Sensors in paper could tell us when something has gone bad.”
Additional applications, such as information storage and security paper, have been suggested for magnetic papers containing magnetite. In Massachusetts, researchers have figured out how to post a video of such a device put into a paper airplane.
German researchers have also put electronic chips in paper bank notes to defend counter-feiters(造偽幣者).Paper is a good material but printing electronics also requires low-cost manufacturing. As many US and European paper makers lose market share to cheaper paper from China, these big paper companies are looking for added value products. That’s where electronic paper devices could make a difference.
“The major obstacles are paper’s large surface roughness and chemical impurities.”Torbjork says. But others in the field think that electronic sensors in paper are still far from the consumer marketplace.
“I don t think it s going to happen.” said Roy Horgan.“You need a conductive surface. It could be 10 years out. What we are looking for are solutions that you can commercialize to-day.”
Solar Print is partnering with Italian automaker Fiat to develop a unique auto-glass with tiny photostatic cells(光電)that can capture electricity from the sun.In the meantime, using paper to conduct electricity is still a “blue-sky” project.
“I would love to See someone prove me wrong, because that means that it’s actually hap-pening.” Horgan said.“If someone comes up with conductive paper, then that’s a very inter-esting technology.”
61.Putting electronics into paper will ________.
A.cut the cost and impurity of paper B.depend on flexible conductive structure
C.help consume rotten milk or orange juice D.combine the advantages of paper and electronics
62.Paragraphs 4 to 7 mainly talk about the ________ of the conductive paper.
A.practical use B.theories C.structures D.design process
63.Some paper makers welcome the new technology probably because it will ________.
A.put an end to fake money B.make the paper smoother
C.add more value to paper D.improve the printing technology
64.From the passage,we know that Roy Horgan ________.
A.has a burning desire to make a great profit B.showed much interest in Solar Print industry
C.is not confident about the conductive paper D.started a “blue-sky” project to study paper

Lita CabEllut is one of Spain’s most successful artists, but the woman whose paintings now sell for six figure sums spent her early years living on the street.
“My childhood was like that of thousands of street kids around the world.” says Lita. She used to wander the streets and slept in the open air.Lita was born in a village in Aragon,north-east Spain,in 1961.While she was a baby,Lita was left with her grandmother—but in reality she spent most of her time out on the streets.
“I ran after the walkers. They gave me money to buy packs of cigarettes or sandwiches, and I kept the change.” Looking back, she says.“Art,of course, was there because art is always around us.” But she was occupied with survival then.
According to the 2014-2015 annual report, now her vivid portraits can sell for 0,000 or more—actors Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry,as well as chef,Gordon Ramsay, are each reported to own one, such as The Coco numero 4,Alam and Eddy Wenting and about 200 painting, drawings and more.Among the works and masters on exhibition the visitors will find the best pieces, most importantly Eddy Wenting.
So what changed the course of Lita’s life so dramatically? Lita’s grandmother died when she was about 10 years old and she ended up in a Barcelona orphanage(孤兒院)before being adopted by “a beautiful Catalan family” two years later. She won’t reveal much about them, except that they introduced her to art. They took her to Madrid’s Prado museum, and intro-duce 13-year-old Lita to A Pilgrimage to San Isidro, which was painted between 1820 and 1823.“I recognized Goya’s painting the expressions in the eyes of the people that I crossed in the streets when I was little,” she says.
“This painting describes the hope, the terrific moments that the human being can have when you lose your security. For me,when I saw this painting for the first time I felt the complicity(關(guān)聯(lián))of being a witness.”
It made such an impression on her that she tried to copy another Goya, one of his sweeter works describing a country boy with a girl and a dog.The result was not spectacular but her adopted family encouraged little Lita to keep painting—they even paid for private tutors to make up for lost time.
And for the first time in her life, she also started going to school.“It’s difficult for me at school as I was so far behind It’s hard to start learning to read and write when you are 13,and then there’s the psychological difficulty of being put into a class where classmates are much younger.I had a lot of private classes to learn everything.”
She slowly made progress, started to listen to the “voice of art” and decided to study art at Amsterdam’s Academy.
The “three big masters” who influenced her the most were Spain’s painter Goya, the sculptor Donatello, and German composer Bach. After graduating for many years, she stayed in the Netherlands and managed to establish a studio and now she has one in The Hague, but success didn’t come easily.
“I did things like giving someone a painting so they would pay my electricity bill and painting a house to get three months’ credit in a supermarket. When you are in a growth period as an artist you have to defend it amazingly because you need time to become a master. If you exchange that time for money, you don’t get that lime back to develop yourself.”
At one point, having established a good relationship with an honorable gallery, she derid-ed to start all over again, and didn’t sell anything for two years.
“I had painted a shocking series on child but her colleagues said,‘No,Lita, you can’t do this.People don’t want this.Paint more angels, those angels that sell so well.’ I said ‘No,and I lost my gallery.”
Although Lita has held solo exhibitions in London.Dubai and Seoul, she is little known in her mother land. Two shows in 2017 are aimed at remedying this: a retrospective(回顧展) at Barcelona, and an exhibition at A Coruna’s art museum where her studio will be recreated.
As for her birth mother,Cabellut says she has forgiven her for abandoning her.She recalls once visiting her when the painter was a student but found it impossible to tell her how she felt.
65.What can we know about Lita’s childhood life?
A.She was given birth to in the Netherlands. B.She was adopted by an orphanage in 1973.
C.She lived an ordinary life with her mother. D.She lost her grandma at the age of twelve.
66.According to the passage,we know the painting “A Pilgrimage to San Isidro’’ ________.

The worst time to look for a job is when you must have a new one immediately.Job Searching under pressure often results in nervous interviewing and decision-making from rela-tively few options. If you are not in need of an immediate career change, here are ways you can improve your long-term career prospects (前景) today:
Identify at least two different roles. You do not have to be qualified for these positions today, nor do they have to exist in your company. However, these roles should be related to your current skill set. They are career options that look interesting.Once you have a couple of targets, think about why and what interests you.Pay close attention to what appeals to you,and write it down. This will give insight into your motivations and targets.
Subscribe to a career specific magazine.Knowledge is power in the workplace. All busi-nesses must stay relevant to their customers in order to win the competitions and increase revenue(收益).Reading about industry trends, advancements and success stories keeps you in touch with market conditions. This information allows you to see which companies and pro-fessionals are leading the peck. You can follow their examples in your own workplace. If you associate with those that stand out from the rest, you are likely to find yourself with better opportunities.
Do exceptional work.In any role, there is a way to perform at your best.Look for ways to deliver a top performance.Show up early,be flexible to new assignments, have a positive attitude, cooperate with other departments, pay attention to the little details.
Be professionally curious.Talk to people about their careers.Learn more about how success is measured in other roles, departments and companies.Ask people their thoughts on different industries.Challenge yourself to expand your business knowledge through interactions with people at regular time.People hire people. You never know what connections may be relevant when you start your next job search,so develop a habit of making good connections no matter where you go.Take the time to learn about others, and be helpful when you can.
As in all things in life, getting in front of a difficult task early is always less stressful than reacting to a career surprise.Changing jobs is to be expected. No matter how secure you feel today, the time will come when either you or your employer decide it is time to change.

Most people have a dream, but those who make it a reality are few and far between. Therefore, what counts is to have the same determination is the boy did.
Life without a dream proves to be a frozen field. However.the dream turns out to be on empty slogan unless you devote the constant efforts to fulfilling it. Nobody can achieve anything without persistence. Accordingly, one of the secrets to success is holding fast to your dream whatever it happens,
I have a dream that one day I can make a commitment to the education in the remote places where children are thirsty for knowledge. I hope that my devotion will make a difference to their lives .To realize the dream not only should I equip myself with abundant knowledge but also inspire more people to join me in helping those poor children. After all, many hands make light work.
