Describe a team you were part of.
You should say:
when the team was formed
who else participated in it
what you did there
and explain why you became part of the team.
I was an enthusiastic member of the student union while I was at university. My university was founded in 1950 and the union had existed for many years, but obviously there was a turnover of members as students graduated.
Besides myself, the union consisted of a number of my fellow classmates and some students from other departments. It was nice to mingle with people outside of my department and make friends in different circles. Despite this, I was especially glad that my good friend Tina was also an active member, so we could chat and see each other without our union commitments getting in the way.
The role of the union was to organize student events, for instance the end of year party or certain competitions like the annual drama contest. The biggest occasion I had a hand in was the university’s 50th Anniversary, where we threw an elaborate party, with dancers and fireworks and even some VIP guest speakers.
At first, I had little to no interest in joining the union, but prospect of seeing Tina more regularly was a real incentive for me, not to mention I thought it would look good on my résumé in the future. It turned out to be a great choice as everyone welcomed me with open arms and I made friends that I plan to keep in contact with for the rest of my life.

我曾是學(xué)校攝影社的一員。我和社里幾個(gè)要好的朋友報(bào)名參加了校園微電影大賽,準(zhǔn)備拍一部關(guān)于重慶火鍋的紀(jì)錄片。我的朋友負(fù)責(zé)視頻的后期剪輯和統(tǒng)籌,而我負(fù)責(zé)外出拍攝影片材料。剛開(kāi)始我遇到了一些 困難,但通過(guò)社團(tuán)指導(dǎo)老師的幫忙以及我們互相的磨合,我們終于完成了時(shí)長(zhǎng)半小時(shí)的作品,并且獲得了比賽的一等獎(jiǎng)。通過(guò)這次經(jīng)歷,我認(rèn)識(shí)到了一個(gè)作品不能靠一個(gè)人完成,還得靠團(tuán)隊(duì)的協(xié)作,隊(duì)員之間的互補(bǔ)。
I was once a member of our school’s photography club which organised training sessions for people who had an interest in photography or video editing (視頻剪輯). About 5 years ago, our school organized a short documentary competition in which the first prize could win 1000 RMB, so I immediately gathered some talented people I encountered in the club and formed a team to participate in the competition. After days of discussion, we decided to shoot a video about the Chongqing hot-pot, which was a typical dish (佳肴) in my hometown. We divided the work according to our individual skills. My friends were in charge of (負(fù)責(zé)) the script writing and the editing of the film, while I was responsible for the shooting. At the beginning, I encountered many obstacles (障礙) and challenges such as technical problems, and I also felt a little stressed (乏力的) trying to find a decent restaurant to record appropriate videos. Fortunately, I had a patient coach and several intelligent team members who always helped me tackle those challenges. They accompanied me to the restaurant and inspired me a lot in terms of what to shoot and which direction to shoot from. Finally, we submitted our half-an-hour-long documentary right before the deadline (截止日期) and, to our delight, even won the first prize! I learned so much through this experience and realized the importance of cooperating with your team members. Unity creates greater achievement and I could never have accomplished such a result without the help of my friends.

What the activity was?
It was my pleasure to join a team to conduct a survey about children from poor homes. In this project, we provided disadvantaged children with free education and wrote a report based on the situations of these children.

When and where you did it?
It was during a summer holiday, and I went to some deprived areas of this city with my classmates, we taught classes to children for free, and provided tutorials on a one-on-one basis.

Who you were with?
I did this project with my classmates.They are all very compassionate people. who are always willing to help those in need.

How you felt about being part of this group?
I felt great because we were able to understand the challenges facing children from less well-off backgrounds. we did understand the importance of education to these children. We also had a sense of achievement, because I felt our work could help them solve some problems related to their academic work.

1、單詞重音后移
中國(guó)的英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)者在讀英語(yǔ)單詞時(shí),常犯重音位移錯(cuò)誤,主要表現(xiàn)為將第一個(gè)音節(jié)重音后移至第二個(gè)音節(jié)。英文的重音就像中文的四聲,和單詞的發(fā)音是不可分割 的,重音后移聽(tīng)起來(lái)會(huì)有非常的奇怪的聲調(diào)。最常見(jiàn)的重音后移的單詞是interesting,它的重音在最前面,而不是在t的前面。類似的還有 subject、mobile、recent等,這些單詞的重音也都在最前面。
2.太愛(ài)發(fā)“兒”化音
一直以來(lái),受美劇的影響,加上雅思口語(yǔ)考試對(duì)語(yǔ)音的包容性,讓很多考生選擇了自己喜歡的美式英語(yǔ),但這也意味著很多考生開(kāi)始了對(duì)“兒”化音的情有獨(dú)鐘,即 不加區(qū)分地卷舌發(fā)兒化音。鄧?yán)蠋熣f(shuō)濟(jì)南環(huán)球雅思的很多學(xué)員都有這方面的毛病,如 “because”和“of course”并不一樣,后者有“r”可以“兒”化;前者卻沒(méi)有,可很多學(xué)員都喜歡把它讀成[bi’k?rz]。事實(shí)上,無(wú)論英式美式,它都發(fā) [bi’k?z]。banana,Christmas,August,idea都是很典型的例子,單詞的拼寫(xiě)中并沒(méi)有“r”,但是考生卻莫名其妙非要讀出 “r”的音。通常我們所說(shuō)的兒化音只有在單詞中出現(xiàn)字母r時(shí)才會(huì)有相應(yīng)的發(fā)音出現(xiàn)。
3.輔音發(fā)不準(zhǔn)確
首當(dāng)其沖的是th的發(fā)音,凡是遇到th我們都要咬舌頭,比如the, think, this, mother, both, three, through, month, maths。絕大多數(shù)學(xué)生在遇到th時(shí),都用/s/或/z/來(lái)替代,沒(méi)有伸出舌尖。這樣做的結(jié)果是自己說(shuō)得很舒服,聽(tīng)的人很不舒服。

還有兩組非常常見(jiàn)的錯(cuò)誤:/l//n/不分,/w//v/不分。南方人傾向于出現(xiàn)/l//n/不分,北方人/w//v/不分。鄧?yán)蠋熣f(shuō)濟(jì)南環(huán)球雅思(微 博)曾經(jīng)有個(gè)貴州學(xué)員在第一次上課做自我介紹的時(shí)候居然說(shuō)“My leim is …(My name is …)”,全班同學(xué)都忍著才能不笑出來(lái)。無(wú)疑這樣的自我介紹也會(huì)給考官留下很不好的印象。
英語(yǔ)輔音/n//l/的發(fā)音部位和漢語(yǔ)的這兩個(gè)音的發(fā)音部位基本是一致的,/l/是舌側(cè)音,發(fā)音時(shí)舌尖抵住上齒齦,氣流由舌頭兩旁出來(lái),/n/是鼻音,發(fā) 音時(shí)也是舌尖抵住上齒齦,但氣流是從鼻腔里出來(lái)的。這個(gè)區(qū)別如果不注意加以強(qiáng)調(diào)的話,學(xué)生一出口就容易犯錯(cuò)誤,以name一詞為代表。容易/n//l/淆 的常見(jiàn)詞還有:let,like,live,light,low,night,ninenose,net等等。
4.長(zhǎng)元音和雙元音不飽滿
試試下面這兩個(gè)句子你能讀得對(duì)嗎?
Mike likes to write by the nice bright light at night. (八次張嘴,元音極其飽滿!)
I like the shape of that mountain.(包含了四個(gè)容易混淆的元音)
雙元音是指音標(biāo)中的八個(gè)音[ei][ai][?i][au][?u] [i?][ε?][u?]。正確的雙元音讀法應(yīng)該經(jīng)歷一個(gè)先升再降的拋物線式拖音過(guò)程,強(qiáng)弱分明,而不是很多同學(xué)的直線式發(fā)音,比如把[?u]讀成“歐” 音,[ai]讀成“愛(ài)”音,[au]讀成“奧”音等等。發(fā)雙元音時(shí)如果不注意強(qiáng)弱區(qū)別、飽和度不夠的話,往往會(huì)影響聽(tīng)力理解。
